Overview :: Toddlers' Room

Wyndarra’s Toddler Room caters for up to 18 children between 2 to 3 years of age.

The play room has a large carpet and large wet area to allow for a large range or activities to be provided. The Toddler children have easy access to toilets and hand basins with appropriate viewing so staff are able to supervise and assist when need be. There is also a nappy change facility for the staff to access.

The Toddler children have a large play yard which they share with the Tott’s children (all children under the age of three). The yard has large decked area for table activities, a bark area for the climbing equipment, a concrete area for the bikes and scooters and a large sandpit. The Toddler children also have access to a grassed picnic area.

Room Ratio 1 staff per 5 children.

The centre routine is flexible and should only be seen as a general guide to your child's day. The center recognises that all children are individuals and their needs vary daily.

Enjoying Play

Toddlers: 2 to 3 years
This is a time of increasing mobility. Independence and exploration of language.

Toddlers like to:

• scribble and draw
• build with blocks
• messy play
• read books
• listen and dance to music
• play with sand/water
• puzzles
• role playing
• and are becoming very independent

In our Toddler room, staff provides a large variety of activities to ensure all children are stimulated throughout the day, activities include:

• toy cars and trucks
• toy animals and people
• dress ups and dramatic play
• ride on toys
• home corner
• balls
• natural play dirt/leaves
• dolls and teddies
• paintings and pasting
• climbing and balancing
